The Story of Mission Nxtgen
by Pinky Mukherjee

Mission Nxtgen meaning mission of next generation is my dream project to build positive changemakers to break the stigma of Mental Health globally. The word 'Mission' is an inspiration from my 20 years of practice in Buddhist philosophy. Every life is precious and we have a mission to protect our lives. I was always fascinated about community work since my childhood days and my vision is to serve and inspire the community. While working with few non profits, I have realized the power of giving and it all started how can I contribute in the mental health area for breaking the stigma in the community. Personally, I have experienced that most of my family members and friends were not comfortable to talk about their mental health while they were suffering from stress, anxiety or depression. They never used to seek help or connect to resources until they were diagnosed clinically. According to American Foundation of suicide prevention suicide is the 12th leading cause of death in the

United States and in 2020 there were estimated 1.20 million suicidal attempts.

According to World Health Organization

More than 700 000 people die due to suicide every year.

So many people are going through mental health issues like anxiety and depression. It breaks my heart to hear about the number of suicides happening in this world.

As a parent of a college going student, I understand how the Generation Z is deeply impacted by the influence of digitalization and rapidly changing world. Most of us are living in uncertainty after the pandemic and my life has a goal to help and support the community through our awareness workshops and programs.
